Gifts and legacies

Patients or their families sometimes wish to make gifts or legacies to enhance our services for patients. The hospital has benefited considerably over the years from the generous support from the community in making donations, legacies, wills and  fundraising and is very grateful for the continuing support which enhances the quality of the service that it provides. The funds are used for the benefit of patients and, staff, to enhance the healing environment and to complement the patient experience.

There are many ways that you can donate to Yeovil District Hospital. If you are a UK tax payer you can use the downloadable gift aid form (below) which allows us to increase your donation by claiming a refund of tax you  have already paid on your income. For every £1 donated we can claim  Gift Aid tax relief of 25p.

Cheques should be payable to Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust – you can specify which ward/department is to benefit if you wish. There is a general hospital fund and individual departmental funds that cover most areas within the Trust. The Hospital is currently aiming to raise £2.4m through its Flying Colours Appeal to enhance the environment in the Women's Hospital.

To find out more follow the link from this page. All donations will be gratefully received and formally acknowledged.

If you are visiting or you are a patient and you wish to make a donation you can do so at our General Office on level 3 at the hospital or via hospital staff. You will be given a receipt to acknowledge your gift.

Make an online donation

You can create your own donation page with justgiving.com. This is a safe and secure way to donate to the hospital.

A gift in your will

A bequest enables you to make a planned gift to a charity that you care about. Charitable legacies are paid before tax is deducted, therefore reducing the amount of tax liability on your estate. A bequest in your will can take the form of:

  • A residuary bequest – this is the residue of the estate once the family and loved ones have been provided for the remainder or a proportion of the estate is pledged to one or more charities
  • A pecuniary bequest – this is a specific sum of money pledged to the charity

In memory giving

A donation to the hospital could be given in memory of a loved one instead of flowers at a funeral. These donations could be sent direct to the hospital or given through the funeral directors. You could also create an In Memory page with justgiving.com.

The hospital charitable funds are registered with the Charity Commission under the umbrella of Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust Charitable Funds the registration number is 1057580.
