Yeovil District Hospital exceeded expectations in the national survey of outpatients which was published today.
Yeovil had an above average response rate with 65% of patients (547) returning the survey compared to a national average of 53%.The survey, which was carried out last June, revealed that Yeovil did better than the majority of hospitals in five of the areas patients were asked to comment on. These were: patients being given a choice of appointment times; appointments starting on time; a member of staff explaining why tests were needed; having enough time to discuss health problems with a doctor and being treated with respect and dignity where the Trust received a score of 9.69 out of 10.
The other 34 comparable responses came within the expected range with no responses coming into the ‘worse than other trusts’ category.
Director of Nursing, Sue Jones said: “I would like to thank all those patients who took the time to respond to survey – we did really well to achieve such a high rate of survey returns. Patient feedback is really important to us and, although we did well, we will be working towards achieving an even more positive feedback in next year’s survey.”
