MRSA

Department of Health guidance requires all patients admitted as elective or routine admissions to be screened for Meticillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA). This has helped to reduce the risk of patients developing this infection while in hospital.

Every month the Infection Control Nurse Consultant and the Information Department analyse and report compliance with the MRSA Screening Policy to the Director of Infection Prevention and Control. This compliance measure has been included in the Infection Control elements of the Clinical Governance performance report made to the Clinical Governance Assurance Committee and Board of Directors.
