Friends of YDH

Friends of Yeovil Hospital is a voluntary organisation which supports the hospital. It raises funds to make grants to departments and wards to purchase equipment not readily available from NHS funds which provide extra comforts for patients, support the hospital staff and improve facilities for visitors. Requests come from medical and nursing staff and from time to time there are special projects which necessitate organising an appeal.

The Friends contributed towards the £62k Kings Fund Project for Lydford Ward to enhance the healing environment and to a variety of other appeals over the years including the first Flying Colours Appeal.

Funds are raised from subscriptions, bequests and donations, the Friends’ Shop and trolley service and fund-raising events such as the annual Chris Parker Quiz.

The Friends Shop

This is open seven days a week (daytimes and evening on weekdays) selling chocolates and sweets, magazines, books and toiletries, as well as cuddly toys and other gifts. It is staffed entirely by volunteers who also provide a daily trolley service to the wards and a daily paper round.

The Friends' volunteers visit some of the patients and are often involved in hospitality roles at hospital functions. They also run raffles to provide Christmas presentsfor patients and help support other charities.

We accept all major credit/debit cards and will automatically add 28% in Gift Aid if you're a UK taxpayer and fill in the paperwork. Payments should be made to 'The League of Friends of Yeovil Hospitals'.

Do you shop online? Would you like to raise funds at no cost to yourself? Become a supporter at www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/lofyh There are over 2,000 retailers that support this scheme, including Amazon, M&S, John Lewis and ELC, donating a percentage of your purchases to our cause. Once registered just go through their site to the retailer and shop as normal.
