The Gynaecology Outpatients Department is situated in the Yeovil Women's Hospital which is next to Yeovil District Hospital. The clinics run on Mondays and Wednesdays with the consultant and his/her team in attendance. There are also designated trained nurses and experienced health care assistants on duty. At the first consultation the patient may or may not need to be examined and may not necessarily be seen by the consultant but by one of his/her team who will then report to the consultant who will make any necessary decisions. Yeovil Fertility Centre provides comprehensive investigations for women and their partners and a wide range of treatments on a free NHS basis, including the processing of sperm and Intra-Uterine Insemination. The centre takes referrals from GPs in East Somerset and from the fertility centre in West Dorset. The fertility centre is staffed by: Nadia Soliman (Consultant); Hamy Omran (Associate Specialist); Helen Butt (Lead Fertility Nurse); Paul Hancock (Andrologist –Sperm analysis); Steve Savage (Lead Sonographer); Nancy Wright (Secretary). Clinics are held on alternate Monday afternoons and Wednesday mornings.
The Colposcopy Unit, which sees an average of around 30 patients each week, is based on the First Floor of the Women's Hospital. Their contact number is 01935 384622.
The consultant is Mr John Giles and the Colposcopy Manager/Practitioner is Sue Cox. Sessions are held Monday and Tuesday mornings and Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
Jasmine is a ward situated in the Women's Hospital, specialising in mainly gynaecology. Staff care for ladies undergoing elective surgery including breast surgery; emergency cases from Accident and Emergency and ladies experiencing problems in early pregnancy up to 20 weeks' gestation.
The Early Pregnancy Assessment Clinic is based on Jasmine and on week days, between 11.30am and 1.30pm, provides early scans and consultation for ladies experiencing problems in pregnancy from 6 to 18 weeks.
Women who are experiencing pain and or bleeding, or who have had a previous ectopic pregnancy or tubal surgery are suitable for referral which can be phoned through to Jasmine Ward at any time by GPs, doctors and midwives. Women attending the clinic should come to Jasmine Ward with a comfortably full bladder and will undergo assessment, ultrasound scanning and review.

Yeovil hospital as part of the NHS South Somerset network, offers diagnostic services in the care of women with suspected cancer and treatment for low grade malignancy as specified in the South West network guidelines.
The team comprises two Gynaecology consultants (Mrs Lydia Karamura and Mr John Giles), Consultant Radiologist, Consultant histopathologist, a clinical Nurse specialist and links with the Gynaecology Oncology team at Musgrove Park Hospital in the planning of patient care.
The service offers diagnostic radiological investigations as well as clinical assessment to make diagnosis of cancer. The team meets regularly every Tuesday to review the findings for all new patients and every Thursday links in with Musgrove Park Multidisciplinary team.
Low grade cancer will be operated on locally by the in house gynaecologists with high grade cancers and complex cases receiving further treatment at Musgrove Park Hospital
There are support services for women with previous diagnosis of cancer or undergoing treatment through the Gossip forum supported by our Clinical Nurse Specialist.
In addition to clinical care, the unit in association with the hospital research department participates in national cancer research studies and trials to inform future cancer care.
We offer urogynaecology service which provides care for women with urinary incontinence and complex pelvic floor weakness / prolapse. Clinics are held on the ground floor of the women’s hospital. The lead consultant for urogynaecology is Mr Leke Osoba, and the Urodynamics Nurse is Sr Lorraine Bruce
