Who will you see?

When you attend the clinic or the first time, your appointment will take about one hour - although it may be longer at busy times.

Our staff consists of receptionists, male and female doctors, nurses and health advisors. You may meet all or just some of the staff depending on what you have come to see us about.

What happens at the clinic?

The doctor/nurse will talk to you about your concerns and/or symptoms. You will then be offered a sexual health check-up. You will then be examined and tests may be taken with a small cotton wool swab from:

Males - the urethra (water passage) after not passing water for two hours.

Females - the urethra, vagina and cervix (entrance to the womb).

We can check some of these samples under the clinic microscope and may be able to give you some results immediately.

Other tests can be taken as appropriate.

You will be offered a blood test for Syphilis, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV. Most test results are ready in 7 - 10 days.

You must tell us your clinic number when you phone to get your results. To get your results, phone on Tuesday or Friday between 12 and 2pm.

If you arrive late for your appointment you may not be seen.
