Introduction to the Kingston Wing

The Kingston Wing are pleased to offer private inpatient treatment for all specialties within the hospital except obstetrics. This includes Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Urology, General Medicine, Cardiology, Gastroenterology and Gynaecology. We also arrange private Ophthalmic surgery at the Yeatman Hospital in Sherborne.

There are two consulting rooms on the Kingston Wing, where many consultants see private outpatients, again for most specialties. These rooms are also used for some minor outpatient surgery, such as injections or biopsies. There is also a private Outpatient Physiotherapy Service, which operates four days a week.

The nursing staff on the Kingston Wing are led by Alison Rowden, Ward Sister. Our experienced team provide high-quality nursing care, which is tailored to the individual’s needs. They have strong links to all other departments within the hospital so are able to call on them as required.

We also have a dedicated physiotherapy and occupational therapy service. They see joint replacement cases pre-operatively to fully prepare the patient and to start planning their post-op requirements and equipment needs. Inpatients are seen on the ward as required by the consultant and the occupational therapy staff are also able to do a home visit if required by the patient.

The cleaning and hospitality service is provided by our own housekeeping staff, who work hard to meet and exceed patient expectations of cleanliness. They also serve meals and beverages and try to tailor the meals to the patients’ requirements. They work closely with the nursing staff to ensure that we provide the best all-round care possible.
